Each year, we evaluate the progress we have made in meeting our health and safety goals, as well as our employee well-being objectives. We set performance targets after ensuring they are aligned with critical factors outlined in our strategic plan, and with the priorities established by the company's leadership.
Going forward, we intend to focus on more strategic, longer-term objectives and programs which will enable us to sustainably grow our business instead of a year-by-year set of targets. We will present these objectives together holistically in the About Newmont section. We will still report on the progress toward achieving those objectives on a yearly basis, but recognize that progress is not always measured on a calendar year basis and merely achieving a target does not necessarily mean we have successfully addressed an issue.
