Dow-Jones Sustainability Index - World
We were named to the DJSI-World Index for the sixth consecutive year. The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes track the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. The DJSI World Index captures the leading 10 percent in terms of sustainability out of the largest 2,500 companies worldwide.
Corporate Responsibility magazine recognized Newmont on its annual list of 100 Best Corporate Citizens.
We were named to the list for the fourth year in a row. Ranked No. 42, we are one of only two mining companies in the top 50. The list is based on more than 360 data points of publicly available information in seven categories: environment, climate change, human rights, philanthropy, employee relations, financial performance and governance.
2012 Hardrock Mineral Community Outreach and Economic Security Award
We were recognized in 2012 by the U.S. Department of Interior's Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for exemplary outreach and investment in local communities. We were selected, in part, for our generous community investment and sustainability programs, which provide ongoing support to dozens of non-profit organizations across northern Nevada.
Aditama Award
For the third time, our Indonesian affiliate PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) received the ADITAMA Award (Gold) and ADITAMA Trophy as the best mineral mine company in environmental management from the Republic of Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Peru 2021 Awards
Our Yanacocha operation was again recognized for social and environmental management, receiving the Corporate Social Responsibility Distinction at the Peru 2021 Awards. This award arises from a strategic alliance between Peru 2021 and the Mexican Center for Philanthropy with the objective of promoting a culture of Corporate Social Responsibility.
PTNNT Receives Environmental Compliance Award
Our Indonesian joint venture, PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT), was recently honored as "The Best Mining Company in Environmental Compliance" by Majalah Tambang, one of the most influential and respected mining magazines in Indonesia. This prestigious award recognizes PTNNT's outstanding environmental management at our Batu Hijau mine. Nominees are evaluated by government officials, journalists, and representatives from non-government organizations (NGOs).
PROPER Blue Rating for Environmental Performance
Our Indonesian affiliate PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) received the Blue PROPER rating (Company Performance Rating Assessment Program) from the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2011-2012 period. The assessment covers topics including water and air pollution control, management of wastes, including toxic and hazardous wastes, and control and prevention of mine area damage.
Twin Creeks Wins Mine Reclamation Award
Our Twin Creeks operation received a Nevada Excellence in Mine Reclamation award for the work we completed on Pinon Tails in 2010. We were recognized for the design and planning that went into the project.
Ahafo Mine Wins Safety Competition
Our Ahafo operations won the Zone II Mine Safety and First Aid competition. The theme of the competition was "Safe Mining: Our Core Business" and was organized by the Ghana Chamber of Mines and the Inspectorate Division of the Minerals Commission.
Nevada Operations and Individuals Honored for Safety
The Nevada Mining Association honored six mine sites and 16 individual employees from Newmont's Nevada Operations for safety achievement. The awards were decided based on Mine Safety and Health Administration data.
