Newmont aims to achieve the following human resources objectives in 2011.

2011 Targets
Attract and recruit: Build and grow Newmont's workforce, in alignment with our strategy; lead the Human Capital components of Newmont's business strategy and objectives.
Metric:
  • Deliver against workforce plans to achieve growth strategy.
  • Build "early talent" pipeline through university recruitment and graduate development programs.
Development and training: Continue integrating Newmont's Leadership Pipeline for employees through the following: implementation of Emerging Talent program; development programs for all levels of the pipeline; expansion of the Technical Sciences Path; performance management in support of Newmont's strategic objectives, and launch of enhanced career development efforts.
Metric:
  • Achieve global participation in the Emerging Talent program for interns and graduate students.
  • Employees at all levels attend one or more safety or leadership development course linked to Leadership Pipeline.
  • Overall company-wide performance management and career development metrics achieved.
  • Integration of the Technical Sciences Path into development, performance and retention programs.
Nationalization/Localization: Continue to execute plans for development of in-country national management teams in each region.
Metric:
  • Actively grow diverse in-country talent to prepare National and Locals for Leadership positions.
