Looking Ahead Looking Ahead to 2011

In 2011, Newmont's priorities will be to increase lead performance requirements for health and safety, with a key focus on planning, education and participation. Lead activities are planned and measurable actions undertaken to continuously improve business performance.

The more we focus on lead actions (what will get done), the more successful we will be in meeting our vision, mission and strategies. It will be through these agreed performance actions that we will advance Newmont's Safety Journey to the next level by living our safety beliefs and principles at all levels of our organization and making safety personal.

2011 Performance Measure Targets
Progress along 'Newmont Safety Journey' 90% of all salaried employees will have defined, within their performance management tracker, a minimum of one (1) action aligned with "My Safety Journey" goals
Progress along 'Newmont Safety Journey' 40% of Newmont contract employees will participate in the "My Safety Journey" process during 2011.
Progress along 'Newmont Safety Journey' Each Regional Leadership Team to develop and conduct a Safety Summit within their respective region.
Serious Injuries 50% reduction of serious injuries against the year-end 2010 performance.
LV GPS Vehicle Tracking Complete rollout for the preferred GPS solution in the remaining three regions for Phase I, high-risk vehicles.

Investigation Program Completion of a Basic on-line investigation course and an Advanced field investigation course.
