Newmont only makes political contributions in the United States, and only as allowed by law. Newmont is permitted to make contributions to candidates for state office in certain states where it does business, including the State of Nevada, and to contribute to organizations that support candidates for state office, such as the Republican Governors Association and the Democratic Governors Association. In 2010, our political contributions amounted to $243,950.

U.S. law prohibits corporations from making contributions to candidates for federal office, or to national political parties that support candidates for federal office. We also engage in political lobbying in the United States at the state and federal levels. Our political lobbying activities are conducted in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
