Community Overview
Support from the communities in which we operate is critical to the success of our company. Throughout the mine life cycle — from the earliest exploration activity through closure — we strive to engage and consult with communities and governments that host our operations and other stakeholders with respect and transparency.
In this section, you will find information on how Newmont works with and supports the local communities near our operations. We present our programs to protect and respect human rights, community engagement and consultation, contribute to communities' development aspirations, and mitigate the impacts of our activities. This section also provides the results of our community relations and development performance during 2007 and our targets for 2008.
